AFC Whiteley was established by Dave Sherwood, Janice Knight, Jack Allan and Janet Hedges in May 2000 with a single under 18s team playing in the City of Southampton Youth Football League.​

However in 2019 AFC Whiteley created two new youth sides, AFC Whiteley Youth Wildcats and AFC Whiteley Youth Under 8's

AFC Whiteley Youth Wildcats is a girls only 5-11 year olds academy created to build on the excellent work done by the 2019 Fifa Womans World Cup and encourage participation in the girls game.

Since then the club has also created two girls only sides.

The Under 8's boys team has since gone from strength to strength and we have welcomed multiple other boys teams up to Under 13's​
